Lollartron Humbucker

This is the best pickup I’ve ever heard! I’m in shock by the clarity!

I love the Gretsch sound but never enjoyed the feel and playability if my ones(Silver Jet and a Brian Setzer 6120—— Loved their sound but nor their feel and handlicng. Now with my experimental guitar (a Player Plus 2022 Shell Pink Strat. Now I have a real beautiful Gretsch sound with Strat Playability and that grrrreat term system.

I put a set of these in a PRS S2 Starla. Compared to the set of TV Jones Classics in my Gretsch DuoJet, these are a lot more muscular. The Classics are brighter and thinner, the Lollartrons almost seem like they have some PAF lineage in that they have more mids and more authority, but there's still plenty of 'tron chime and sparkle. Very versatile!

I put these in my Gretsch 5420T. I should have done this a long time ago. I’ve always loved my Gretsch(s). I have three. Now it’s a borderline unhealthy relationship!!!! It’s always been a versatile guitar, but even more so now. More dynamic. She just sounds Ssoooo good now. I play rock, classic rock, alternative rock, punk rock, and more recently jazz. Yup she does it all and better than ever. IMO Gretsch should put these in their guitars stock. But that’s me. If you have a Great you owe it to yourself. Get a set.

I put a set of Lollartrons into an HSH config superstrat, and they have made it my favorite guitar for years. With the tone rolled back a little you get a barky, vintage Gibson voicing, but with the tone rolled to max you can almost get near Strat territory. Truly musical, and an amazing product.

I swapped out the stock 490R/498T pickups in my ES-137 Classic with a pair of these Lollartrons and man alive, they are extraordinary! The cleans are stellar: the bridge is snappy and percussive; the neck delivers smooth "round" tones but with an unmistakeable growl in the low end; both of them together is a thing of beauty, chimey and with a vocal formant quality that I just love. With some grit these pickups develop a real attitude. The bridge rips, tears and barks. The neck delivers a thick, wooly crunch. Both of them together is still a really meaty crunch, but with a little more definition and focus. I've never owned a Gretsch and I've never used Filtertrons, so I can't comment specifically on accuracy or do a compare and contrast against the "real thing", but I can say that they sound pretty darn good in my guitar. I ordered a pair of these to put in my Godin Freeway a few years ago. The Godin Freeway is a super-strat-style guitar, and under no circumstances should it should this much like a Gretsch. There should be laws of nature to prevent it. And yet, here I am. These pickups are absolutely perfect. Most of the Gretsch guitars I've played would now be beat out by my little modified Freeway. God bless Lollar, you guys make a hell of a pickup.
