Original P-bass p/u

The single coil P-bass was used by Chris Squire on the first two Yes albums, most certainly on Dear Father, Sweet Dreams, & Astral Traveler. If you do a video search, Chris is using single coil P-bass on the live version of Dear Father. My ear tells me he also used it on the studio version for I am well-versed in what a Rick bass sounds like & the old P-bass w/ the single coil has more of a growl & full spectrum of tone. This Lollar pickup has more output, better articulation, & midrange than the P-bass split coil. During a few rehearsals w/ a recent cover band, I played my bass w/ this pickup on a few songs and the resident bassist used a standard P-bass. The guitarist noted more than once that my bass had more output w/o my saying anything, going through the same rig, same tone settings, both bassists of finger players w/ similar attack. The late Dusty Hill of ZZ Top & Sting used this bass most of their careers. What an awesome pickup created by Jason Lollar! I have used Seymour Duncan, Fender, & Aguilar (active & passive) pickups on my basses & this Lollar passive single coil beats them all. Once you hear this hand-made pickup, it is my hope that you will pleased.

This pickup is in a Nash PB-52. I also have a Fender 51 RI. I have tried several different pickups including a SD custom shop stacked 51 pickup. Jason's pickup is a mix of the original pickup that has undergone a modern transformation of faster dynamics, greater articulation and better balanced sound. I feel that if Leo was around today this is the only pick he would use in these basses.
