Precision Bass Split-coil High Wind

I've used standard Lollar P-bass pick ups in the past and have always been happy with them. On a whim I decided to try a High Wind version and to my delight, this is the best sounding pick up I've ever had. It cuts through the mix like no other yet retains the round smooth low end that my other Lollar's have. It's now my go to. Thanks Lollar...! -Cadillac Johnson

I was able to get my hands on an American Standard Jaguar bass, a PJ passive/active multi-tool that had a short production lifespan of about a year or two. Given that brief time and having been discontinued about 7 years ago, they can get pricey, so I was stoked to find one that I could afford right after I’d finished my Christmas shopping. The downside was that the original pickups had been replaced by DiMarzios. I’m not knocking the DiMarzios, as they are great pickups if you prefer a modern sound; they’re just too hot and punchy for my tastes. I’m a bigger fan of a well rounded pickup that can do deep, warm tones. I swapped out the neck P pickup with this Lollar, and the difference is night and day. Where the DiMarzio is the angry frontman, the Lollar is the classically trained singer that can blend with any style. I really enjoy putting a foam mute right at the bridge, rolling on the tone, and playing some Motown with these pups!

I put these in a Road Worn PBass, and I am very pleased with the results. Our drummer said, Where's the beef? It is in that bass, love the tone. I have to admit, it is a roll of the dice to trade out pups, but this came up 7's!! I highly recommend these pickups for a thick, fat, smooth, and very articulate touch. I use Thomastik Flats, and they never sounded better on my 50's PBass.

I'm a reggae bassist, and was looking for a pickup for a Franken-bass I'd been putting together for use playing Jamaican styles. I needed something with lots of bottom end, but with a tight and fast response and good clarity on the attack. I did some research on different pickups before eventually pulling the trigger on an overwound Lollar. I absolutely could not be happier. Gig after gig, this pickup delivers. Even at lower volume situations, I can still push the fundamental where I need it to be. I've also tried using this with an overdriven pick-style sound, and it kills that too!! Definitely a good choice for anyone who's looking for that sort of amp driven, gained up sort of tone out of their P, for my purposes its more akin to a humbucker in bridge position than a typical P, but still with that classic P tubbiness.

I have been wrestling with a Fender '58 P bass, could not get the low end where I wanted it, and found out I'm not a fan of the A string raised pole piece. Boom!!! the Lollar overwind, gave me the low end, tight mids and enough treble to have a nice bite....finally, thank you Jason. What took me so long!!!

I was blown away by these pickups. I always felt that other aftermarket P pickups scooped out to much of the midrange. The overwound P has all of the character that makes the rock precision sound great; that rumble in the bottom and the bite on top, but with so much more clarity and power. Played with fingers its smooth and fat and then switching to a pick adds the perfect amount of aggression. My favorite thing about this pickup is that even with a lot of drive, the harder you hit it, the more fundamental you get. I can not recommend this enough!

These pickups sound better than anything I've used. They're even across all frequencies, but keep that amazing vintage Fender warmth. I use Lollars in my jazz basses and one of my Thunderbirds. I cannot say enough about how good all of this pickups sound. At least try them to hear how good they are.

The extra bottom on this makes it and ideal choice for old school throaty P sound. I put flats on my P and it has such a smooth low end.

This is my second Lollar pickup. The first was a set of blackface strat pickups. I can't vouch for Jason's pickups being authentic as I've never really played a 60's strat/precision with original pickups. What I can tell you, however, is that Lollar pickups give you more of what you expect. If you're looking for a classic thump, this pickup gives you what you expect and a little extra. It's very responsive and sounds good solo or in a mix. I currently have it installed in a classic 50's P with CTS 450G 250K pots and a .1uf PIO K40-Y9 cap. I strongly recommend the .1uf if you are looking for a classic tone instead of a .047uf. Either way, this pickup doesn't disappoint.
