Like our Regal™ Humbucker, our Regal™ for Jazzmaster® pickup is based on the ’72 Tele® Deluxe’s Wide Range pickups—but with some noted improvements to the volume and tonal balance between the neck and bridge. It has fat tone with clear top end sparkle and vocal midrange. Designed as a direct dropin replacement for standard-size Jazzmaster® pickups.

Recommended Capacitor: 0.047μF
Low Wind Neck—A lower output version of our standard neck pickup, the low wind version has a tighter low end with added sparkle on top.

I had Gabriel at Echopark build me a custom made J guitar as a semiacoustic, Tele-is, but with a Mastery Bridge. I originally ordered Arcane JM and Goldfoil in the Neck. I replaced the Arcane JM with the Lollar Regal for JM and, boy oh boy, it really did wonders. The bridge position now sounds round, clear sustain and harmonizes beautifully with the Arcane JM Pickup. Highly recommended.

I ordered a regal for both neck and bridge for my purple J Mascis signature Jazzmaster. My best looking guitar is now my most versatile and “mean sounding,” Jazzmaster of 3 in my stable. The humbuckers sound fat in the bridge and are articulate in the rhythm circuit. Clean or With high gain, every note is clear and every genre of music sounds great.

I bought a J Mascias Jazzmaster and wasnt really thrilled with the p90s that came stock. I prefer humbuckers but have always wanted a jazzmaster guitar. I was glad to see Lollar came out with the Regals for JM! PUPs fit into the body and pickguard without any issue. Great cleans and even better overdrive out of these....thanks to Lollar this guitar may be my new go to!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do your Jazzmaster pickups use staggered or radiused pole pieces?
Yes, our Jazzmaster pickups have a pole piece radius of approximately 9.5”. We find that this is a sweet spot and works well even with guitars that have different fingerboard radii. We do not offer custom radius pickup builds.
What values of potentiometers and capacitors do you recommend for Jazzmaster pickups?
Vintage Jazzmasters (along with Tele Deluxes and Thinlines among others) used 1meg pots, which gives the guitar a lot of brilliance and presence. Many players today find that sound to be a little on the harsh side, so we generally recommend 250k pots with a .047 cap as we would for a Strat or Tele. That said, there are no hard and fast rules.
