Novel 90

Bought the bridge for my PRS Vela. What a great, unique and awesome pickup. I replaced a PRS 58/15 LT that I had in there, but it was a little bit dull. The Novel 90 is great. The tone…it adds some grit and p90 rawness, but just a touch less of a real p90. I prefer that…I like my p90s more on the meaty single coil side than roaring, nasty grind p90s. Really, couldn’t be happier with this pickup. Also, the neck pickup is a Lollar Firebird. Great, unique combo.

I put Novel 90s in my Custom 77 T-Sonic, replacing a pair of incumbent humbuckers. Not that the humbuckers were bad, I was looking for something sounding more in line with my Mosrite, a guitar that predates me, and I fear touring with. To say I found something in line with the P90s in my Mosrite is an understatement. Sure there are differences, no two guitars are alike, by extension nor are two pickups are alike. I am sure I kicked some purest hornets nest with that comment. However different, the world the Mosrite and now be-Novel 90’d T-Sonic now occupy is the same. These pickups work in complete harmony with the T-Sonic, taking it somewhere well beyond phenomenal. There is no hyperbole that will do these pickups justice. As soon as I have more funds, I will be installing another set of Novel 90s on my other Custom 77. I now fear losing this guitar as much as my Mosrite. What a pairing! Novel 90s? Indeed!

Put a pair of these in my 2009 SG Standard and I couldn’t be happier. Amazing tone and clarity. Completely changed my opinion of the guitar and it has quickly turned into my favorite. I’ll be buying some more Lollars in the future for sure!!

I purchased this pup as a bridge replacement in my PRS Starla. The pup I intended to replace had a bit of a Gretsch sound, I was looking to replace it with something to fatten up leads. I have Lollar P90s in my Collings DC290 and hoped the Novel would bring some of that to the PRS. Unfortunately the pairing wasnt a good one. In my Starla the Novel sounded flat, no real character. They werent trebly, not bassy, not midrangy....just sounded flat. Tried it in a 2001 Custom Shop sG ... same result, lacking character. As much as I love the Lollars in my Collings and I have a Lollar steel pole strat pup in an old G&L I love....i think the Novel just misses the mark of bringing some real p90 character to the game. At $155 it was an expensive lesrning lesson.

The stock humbuckers in my Mexican HH Tele were uninspiring to say the least. Wanted a bit more of that P90 growl, so I thought I'd try these out. Wow! It's clean sound is powerful and "open" sounding for lack of a better word. No mud in the low end and smooth highs. Plenty of output on tap (for my taste) while remaining very responsive to your playing. Just as good dirtied up. No f-spaced bridge, but still makes me cheap Tele sound incredible.

Wasn't getting any tone of the Gibson stock 57 humbuckers in my 335 that I was particularly inspired by. looking to get a more hollow, p90/ 330 sound I stumbled onto these. I use lollars in just about every guitar, and these really took my 335 into a new dimension - I play the wide ranges and the 60s strat pick ups as well, and while they are all great, the 335 with these pickups sounds the best of them all. I couldn't recommend these enough. If you think it's for you, it probably is. ;)

These are just the thing for my 72 thinline. They fit the standard routing and they sound great. They look even better. I got the tortoise tops...gorgeous. They are wonderfully touch sensitive. Every bit of “ English” you put into the strings comes through. Blues, rock, picking, strumming they sound clear and clean...until pushed a bit then they start to get dirty in just the right way. Even a little OD will get them growling as the attack gets aggressive. Just wonderful to play with finding all the tones. I’m in love.

Have constantly felt like every humbucking guitar I own sounds muddy. Would turn the bass virtually off on my amps and turn the treble up to get any kind of clarity and I am talking nice boutique amps. Gave a set of the SCHB a try and now I have usable range in guitar's tone knob and the tone controls on my amps. Grind, drive and clarity! These pups sound great clean or driven. Best switch I ever made. Thanks Lollar!!

I am a P-90 lover, and I had a pre-72 Les Paul I was restoring that was already cut for humbuckers. Because I'm a custom builder, and use a lot of different Lollar Pickups, I was really curious about this one. My Les Paul has now been used on three different recording sessions in Memphis, including one at legendary Ardent Studios, simply because of its tone as well as playability. I loan it out quite often. There is nothing like this pickup! Clean, it sounds like a full bodied P-90, but dirties up just like a humbucker. It is neither of the two, but the combination of both in one pickup. I cannot say enough about this pickup, and I had a customer notice there were no reviews when I suggested it for an upgrade, so I had to give it accolades.
