Like it's smaller counterpart, the 7-string El Rayo offers the same single coil like response with a tight low end and sparkling extended top end, while retaining the power and midrange of a traditional humbucker. Made with the same Alnico 5 magnets in the neck, and Alnico 8 magnets in the bridge as our six-string version. Don't let the DC numbers fool you. Expect an output similar to a traditional PAF style humbucker, with more dynamic range. This allows you to play softer for cleaner passages, or hit the front end of your amp harder with less or more force from your strumming hand. Our El Rayo humbuckers cater both to classic and modern guitarists. Working just as well through a modern high gain, as they do a vintage tube amp. Pole spacing center-to-center of the two outside poles is 2.412", height adjustment location is 3.5" center-to-center, and overall size is 3.05" by 1.425". The short leg base plate is approximately .25" deep and foot shape may vary from to square to rectangular. Sold as singles or as sets and available in double-black exposed bobbins only. Single conductor braided shield lead wire and 4-conductor lead wire is available.
