Mustang Bass

Sorry about the title, I couldn’t resist. I was introduced to these pups when I bought my first Nash MB-63 (boutique take on the Mustang bass). I already owned a few Mustangs, i.e., a modern American Performer, a 1966, and 1971, having fallen in love with that bass model. To me, the Mustang is just as seminal as the standard P and J models. One of the things I love most about the Mustang is the tone. It’s warm, dark, and thumps like no other. The modern Fender Mustang pickups are good, but really lack that low end bite. It’s kind of analogous to a later album of an artist who’d peaked years ago. These Lollar pups bring the life back to the sound. They capture the characteristics of the vintage era tones, but have a clarity that is unmatched. Using the Lollars is like watching your favorite movie, only remastered 4k UHD. All of the greatness remains, but there are details you couldn’t see when you’d watched it on VHS, or even DVD! Like these remastered films, Lollars don’t alter the source material, they bring the experience to life. You get the tones of the vintage with the dynamics of the modern. I can’t recommend them enough!!!
